Biogas plant in Saxony-Anhalt

Manure upgrading for the creation of a single-stage biogas plant for electricity and heat production

BIOGAS PLANT

IMPLEMENTATION YEAR: 2018

LOCATION: Sachsen-Anhalt (Germany)
ACTIVITY: Planning, execution and construction

The fermentation substrate is kept at a temperature in the mesophilic range (approx. 40° C) in the fermenter in order to provide an optimal environment for the methane-forming bacteria. The temperature required to maintain the biogas process is provided by the waste heat from the combined heat and power plant and introduced by means of the fermenter heater.

The Bio-Gas Project in Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany, completed years ago, marks a significant milestone in the region’s sustainability journey.

Project Highlights:

  • Total Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Capacity: 165 kW.
  • Electrical Power Output: 75 kWel.
  • Thermal Power Output: 90 kW.
  • Electrical Efficiency: 37.80%.
  • Annual Operating Hours: 8,200 hrs.
  • Total Annual Power Production: 615,000 kWh.
  • Transformer Losses: 1.10%.
  • Net Annual Power Output: 608,235 kWh.
  • Average Power Output: 74.20 kW.
